Hi,

I'm on the fence with purchasing a new lens as I don't know which would suit me better. I'll try to keep it short and sweet...

To start, I have a Nikon D3400 with the 18-55 kit lens. I'm looking to get a new lens that my main use for buying would be night sky/nightscape photos along with general landscapes at times.

I originally settled on the Rokinon 14mm 2.8 lens after reading many good things about it. But I'm concerned that it would not be much different for my intended use over my kit lens being it would be on a DX style camera. Specifically 14mm vs 18mm and f/2.8 vs f/3.5.

I've been eyeing the Nikkor 35mm 1.8 lens as a potentially cost effective purchase now. But again I have the same question as on the Rokinon lens. How different will it be and will the 35mm on a DX camera (52.5mm) work against me for what I'm wanting.

Please help.

Thanks!

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
